Melody Herr is a screenwriter, producer, and director working across genres. Raised just north of Detroit’s 8 Mile by a teen single mom, Melody grew up understanding grit long before she had a word for it. After leaving a career in architectural design, she earned her MFA in Screenwriting from Emerson College and built a creative life around stories of reinvention, resilience, and people pushed past the point of pretending they’re fine.
She produced the feature film Diffraction, now available on Amazon Prime and Tubi, and is the creator and producer of The Farm, a serialized mystery-thriller podcast now available wherever you get your podcasts.
Melody’s work centers scrappy people under pressure, especially complicated women trying to rebuild their lives while the ground is still shifting beneath them. Her characters don’t wait for permission. When the world doesn’t make space for them, they kick down the walls and build it themselves.
In her spare time, she enjoys chasing cheap flights and occasionally remembers to pack socks.
Melody is represented by James Moorer at One Moorer Media & Management.
Her current slate includes female-driven comedies, thrillers, holiday adventures, and audio dramas centered on reinvention, survival, family secrets, and second chances.
